To celebrate the launch of two new Big Mac sizes, McDonald's is giving away 10,000 bottles of the sauce that makes the burger so special.

There are two ways to get a bottle: Watch the live giveaway Thursday at 1 p.m. on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram. Or download the Big Mac Special Sauce Finder iMessage app, visit one of the participating restaurants, and tell a McDonald's employee the secret code: "There's a Big Mac for that."

There are two restaurants in Minnesota where you can get the sauce:

  • 407 15th Ave. SE in Minneapolis
  • 1306 Apache Dr. SW in Rochester

The sauce bottles will be given away on a first-come, first-serve basis.

What's in the sauce? Well it's not just thousand island dressing, like some (including us) believed. McDonald's spokesperson Becca Hary told USA Today it's a "classic combination of ingredients," but the recipe is secret. Although there are some copy cat recipes out there that claim to taste like the real thing.

The new Big Macs

McDonald's is giving away the sauce to promote its new Big Mac sizes, which will be available until March 20.

For those who don't think the double-patty Big Mac is big enough, there's the Grand Mac burger. That's made with bigger patties, totaling one-third pound of beef, and has another slice of cheese, a news release says. Plus all the stuff the normally comes on a Big Mac: the special sauce, lettuce, cheese, pickles, onions, and the middle bun.

And then there's a smaller version of the Big Mac. The Mac Jr. is a single-patty Big Mac, sans the middle bun.

McDonald's wants young people to eat there

These new sandwiches come as McDonald's continues to try and woo millennial eaters (only one in five millennials has tried a Big Mac, MarketWatch reported).

One of the fast-food chain's other efforts was launching all-day breakfast – McDonald's saw a boost from that, but USA Today reports the novelty of it is wearing off, and it didn't necessarily bring in new business. It just offered current customers more options.
