Steamy weather is back in the headlines as temperatures are expected to approach triple digits again this week. The National Weather Service has issued a heat advisory for central and southern Minnesota on Monday. That's when afternoon heat indices are expected to hit the 95 to 105 degree range across much of the state.

March heat wave continues to shatter records

It's crazy. But it keeps happening. Insanely warm March weather broke records again this weekend. The Twin Cities had the earliest-ever 80-degree reading. Even the nation's icebox - International Falls - turned in a steamy 77 degrees, breaking the previous record for the date by 22 degrees. Duluth, Fargo, Rochester, St. Cloud, and Winona all set records, as well. Some much needed rain is expected late Sunday through Wednesday, with temperatures cooling down in the 60s for most of the work week.

Triple-digit temperatures heated up the Twin Cities during the 4th of July holiday. The National Weather Service's Minneapolis-St. Paul station said the temperature hit 100 degrees at 3 p.m., which marked for only the second time ever that Independence Day has been this hot. The last 100-degree 4th of July was in 1949.
