MPR News has a new easy-to-use interactive map that endeavors to read your lifeline.

MPR created the map using information compiled by Wilder Research. The St. Paul-based social services organization examined life expectancy data using Twin Cities death records and zip codes.

Check out the map here – you can easily zoom into your neighborhood and see your statistical life expectancy.

MPR News reports that where you live and your racial background are intertwined as predictors of how long you might live. MPR and other state media last week explored the issue of "structural racism" in the state's health care systems.


Average life expectancy improving in the Twin Cities

A new report from Eagan-based Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Minnesota shows the average life expectancy in the metro is 81 years. The study also found children born in wealthier areas are still expected to live about six years longer than those living in lower-income neighborhoods.
