The Northstar Commuter Rail running from downtown Minneapolis to Big Lake now comes equipped with free Wi-Fi for riders.

The Star Tribune reports the new service kicked off during Monday morning rush hour. Wi-Fi is only available in one designated car of the train, typically the car furthest away from the locomotive or the "cab car."

Even though the service is free, Transit Wi-Fi has some restrictions. "Questionable" content will be blocked and the service will also limit the size of downloads. (So, don't plan on streaming Netflix.)

Riders also have the option of clicking into the Sound Point audio tour produced by Minnesota Public Radio, which narrates information and historical features along the route, according to the newspaper.

The car with Wi-Fi will be labeled by a decal placed on the outside and inside of the train that reads "Free Wi-Fi on This Car."

If all goes well, Metro Transit will expand the service to metro-area light rail lines and buses, the Pioneer Press reported.

More and more people are choosing to take the Northstar line. Ridership is up more than 15 percent compared to 2012.
