Metro Transit to provide free bus, light rail rides on New Year's Eve

For the third year in a row, Metro Transit is partnering with the Miller Lite Free Rides Program to offer free bus and light rail service on New Year's Eve, WCCO reports.

The free ride offer starts at 6 p.m. and lasts through the last scheduled trip on New Year's Eve.

In addition to Metro Transit's bus and light rail service, free rides will be available on METRO Blue and Red lines, Plymouth Metrolink, Anoka County and Minnesota Valley Transit Authority buses.

The free ride offer is not available on the Northstar Commuter Rail Line.

"Whether you'll be out celebrating or you're not interested in driving alongside those who are, riding Metro Transit is an easy, safe alternative," Metro Transit says.

Metro Transit has schedules for all New Year's Eve routes on its website.

Including St. Patrick's Day, for the last 16 years, more than 1 million people to date have ridden Metro Transit buses and light rail for free through the Miller Lite Free Rides Program, Metro Transit says.
