You might see the Golden Girls on Saturday – hundreds of them
It's not every day you see the star of a hit TV show walking down Hennepin Avenue in Minneapolis. Saturday will be a little different, though.
With a little use of your imagination – and perhaps a little lubrication for it – you may very well see some of the stars of that bygone sitcom The Golden Girls. Over and over again.
Organizers of the Golden Girls Bar Crawl hope to set a world's record for the largest gathering of people dressed as the Golden Girls under one roof.
They'll be at The Pourhouse in downtown Minneapolis' Lumber Exchange building from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. After their record is (hopefully) confirmed, Sophia, Rose, Dorothy, and Blanche – hundreds of them – will scatter to four other bars within walking distance for trivia, dancing, karaoke, and drag shows. There might also be some drinking.
A portion of the bar sales will benefit Outfront Minnesota, an advocacy group for LGBTQ causes. Dressing up like the Golden Girls is not required, though it is encouraged.
Bringing a Golden Girls bobblehead is not expected because they sold out almost immediately when they were briefly available last fall.
