An Edina dog with an unusual appetite is expected to make a full recovery after undergoing surgery to remove nearly two pounds of rocks from its stomach.

FOX 9 reports Gordon, a 7-year-old goldon retriever, likely ate the pile of rocks from its owner's garden.

The dog required emergency surgery, which took about two hours at BluePearl Veterinary hospital in Eden Prairie.

"You don't see too many dogs eat this many rocks usually," Dr. Jeff Yu said. "Most dogs will stop after one or two, but Gordon certainly had quite the hankering."

WCCO said 16 rocks, weighing a total of 1.79 pounds, were removed.
