Some Minnesota hospitals are restricting visitors in an effort to curb the fast-spreading flu virus, WCCO and the Star Tribune report.

Hospitals in New Ulm, Wyoming, Minn., and Mayo facilities in New Prague, Mankato, Fairmont, Springfield, St. James and Waseca, all are limiting visitor access, the Star Tribune reports.

Health officials say the measures are designed to protect vulnerable patients and staff.
