Minn. natives on East Coast continue to tough it out in Sandy's aftermath
A Minnesota native checking in from her home on the East Coast says that she's among one of the 750,000 people still in the dark after the devastation caused by Hurricane Sandy and a second storm to hit the area, KARE-TV reported.
Former Twin Cities resident Julie Hirshenson, who is six and a half months pregnant with her first child, says she's been without power for 10 days. Meanwhile, former Maple Grove resident Nora Hewson-Stech got her power back on Staten Island and is doing her best to help others who haven't been as lucky.

KARE also reported that Minnesota-based Target Corp. has been helping out on the East Coast with its "Corporate Command Center," which watches over fellow employees who may be victims of the disaster, and helping with customers facing emergency.
