Minn. on top ten list of wind power generation, use

The U.S. Department of Energy says the surge in wind power in Minnesota has allowed the state to show up on two of its top ten lists.

KTOE Radio in Mankato reports that that the federal agency calculates that Minnesota is seventh in the nation for gross wind power generation, and fourth in the percentage of energy used that comes from wind.

Nearly 17 percent of Minnesota's energy comes from wind. The department said only nine states have more than 12 percent of power generated by the wind.
