Minn. schools among hundreds vying for federal grant money

Publish date:

Eighteen school districts across Minnesota are among roughly 900 applicants nationwide competing for a portion of $400 million in education grants, MPR reports. The money is part of the Race to the Top fund.

The U.S. Department of Education is expected to pick 15 to 25 districts to receive the five-year grants next month.

Minnesota was among nine states awarded federal education money last December. The state received $45 million to increase the number of children enrolled in early learning programs.
