Minneapolis bar tops Travel Channel's chow down list

The home of the legendary Juicy Lucy has topped the Travel Channel's list of mouthwatering places to grab a bite.

Minneapolis' 5-8 Club, which began as a speakeasy during Prohibition, came in at No. 1 on the network's "More Chowdown Countdown."

"We were so excited just to be included in the 'Chowdown Countdown,'" the 5-8 Club's Jill Skogheim told KARE 11. "This was about the hardest secret we've ever had to keep. Now we want to tell the world that we came in on top!"

Post by 5-8 Club.

This was the second installment of the network special and featured 101 places to "chow down" in America.

In January, the Juicy Lucy was named to Time Magazine's list of most influential burgers. Time detailed the feud between the 5-8 Club and Matt's Bar (which spells the burger without the "I"), also in Minneapolis. Matt's also claims to be the original creator of the cheese-filled burger.

Both establishments have gained a loyal following thanks to the feud over who invented it and who makes it best. Matt's Bar and the 5-8 Club have been featured on the Travel Channel's "Man vs. Food" and "Food Wars" – Matt's Bar won best burger on "Food Wars."

Of course, there have been many imitators. WCCO in 2011 listed the best places to get a Juicy Lucy in the Twin Cities.
