Minneapolis has 2 of the 'hottest neighborhoods' in the US for 2016

Two of the hottest neighborhoods this year are in Minneapolis, according to one website.

Redfin – a real estate company – put out its annual list of the 10 neighborhoods it predicts will be highly sought after this year.

Two Minneapolis 'hoods make the list (the only city with multiple entrants):

Ericsson comes in at No. 3.

Powderhorn Park comes in at No. 9

Here's the full list.

Both are in South Minneapolis – here's a good map that clearly shows the neighborhoods.

What are they basing this on? They're mainly tracking visits to Redfin.com, and looking at which homes customers mark as favorites. They then check in with agents to figure out what's driving it.

Affordability is a big one – but customers wants areas that also still have easy access to stores, coffee shops and short rides to downtown. There's also a desire for neighborhoods with "character" – original architecture, and tree-lined streets.

They break out each metro area later, and have an agent provide some insight. Here's what they said about the Twin Cities, focusing on Ericsson:

"Located between Lake Hiawatha and Minnehaha Falls, Ericsson offers a multitude of outdoor activities in the summer and winter. Residents also find themselves along the METRO Blue Line, which provides easy access to downtown. Single-family homes in Ericsson tend to be on the small side, but the convenience and price are hard to beat."
