Minneapolis officer and K-9 injured in police chase

Author:

A Minneapolis police officer and K-9 are recovering after a squad car crash.

Officer Klann and K-9 Enzo were chasing a "bad guy" Friday evening, according to the department's Facebook post.

The chase started around 8 p.m. in northeast Minneapolis, Fox 9 reports.

An update says the officer hit a patch of ice and crashed in Roseville.

Immediately after the incident, police say the K-9 jumped out of the vehicle and started running. They say the dog ran seven miles before officials caught up to him.

Klann was taken to the hospital. The police department says he suffered "many bumps and bruises" but will recover.

Meanwhile, the K-9 was taken to the University of Minnesota's veterinary hospital. The post says Enzo was held overnight and will be just fine.

Fox 9 says police are looking for the suspect.
