Police are investigating the shooting death of a man whose body was discovered in a car in north Minneapolis this week.

According to a release from the Hennepin County Medical Examiner, Marcus Tyrone Hunter died of a gunshot wound to the chest on Monday. He was 31 years old.

Hunter, of St. Louis Park, was found "slumped over" in a vehicle, WCCO reports.

There are no suspects in the homicide yet.

This comes just a little over a week after Minneapolis Police announced they were bracing for a spike in violent crime, which tends to occur with the retreat of winter and the onset of warm weather.

Also spurred by a recent series of shootings, the department said it would be "saturating" the city's crime-heavy areas with extra patrols, both plainclothes and uniformed units.
