Employment in Minnesota continued to grow in July with more than 6,800 jobs added, the state reported Thursday. Combined with June numbers, the state has added 11,000 jobs in the last two months. Minnesota's unemployment rate, however, climbed 0.2 percent from June to 5.8 percent in July, but still is far below the national rate of 8.3 percent.

Employers in Minnesota cut 2,000 jobs last month, according to state labor officials with the Department of Employment and Economic Development. The Star Tribune reports, the state's unemployment rate went up one-tenth of a point from July to 5.9 percent. The national jobless figure was 8.1 percent in August.
