Dozens of auctioneers from Minnesota and surrounding states are gathering to find the fastest talker of them all.

The Associated Press reports that more than 30 auctioneers will compete for the Minnesota State Bid-Calling Championship Thursday night in Minneapolis.

The competition is part of the Minnesota Auctioneers Association's convention, which runs Thursday through Saturday.

Last year's winner was Andrew Bachmann of Frazee, Minnesota, who out-talked 23 other competitors from Minnesota, Wisconsin and North Dakota, the organization said.

This year's winner will represent Minnesota at the national convention of auctioneers in July.
