Minnesota-based firm to shutter Iowa office, cut 95 jobs

About 95 workers in northern Iowa are looking for a new job. Vadnais Heights-based I.C. System Inc., which provides accounts receivable management services, has decided to close its Mason City branch after more than two decades in the community, the Globe Gazette reports.

The company's president blames downturns in the economy for the reason not to renew its Mason City lease and consolidate operations. The closure will be complete by June 30.

Ecolab to close Grand Forks office next summer, cut 144 full-time jobs

St. Paul-based Ecolab plans to close its Grand Forks office next July, the Herald reports. The facility has 144 full-time employees who support accounting, customer service, human resources, information technology and other administrative functions related to Ecolab's Pest Elimination business. Layoffs could begin as soon as January. Some employees may be able to work from home or take other jobs at Ecolab locations in Minnesota, Wisconsin, Illinois or Indiana.

California-based firm to acquire Minneapolis office tower for $207M

33 South Sixth Street/City Center, the fourth-tallest building in downtown Minneapolis, is being sold for roughly $207 million to a real estate firm in San Francisco, the Star Tribune reports. The 50-story office-retail-hotel complex, once known as the International Multifoods Tower, is about 83 percent occupied. Its biggest office tenant is Target Corporation's technology group. The building is also home to a three-story shopping mall and a Marriott hotel.

Bloomington-based software firm sold

New Jersey-based Verisk Analytics has agreed to acquire Aspect Loss Prevention for $8 million. The Twin Cities-based software company helps companies prevent employee theft.
