The number of jobs in the state is up 19,000 compared to a year ago. And 40 percent of the small and medium-sized businesses surveyed say they plan to hire in the new year. That's up from 27 percent a year ago.

More Minnesota school teachers are turning to the leave of absence. A survey by the state's school boards shows a 27 percent increase in two years. The school boards think bigger class sizes and additional scrutiny are behind an increase in teacher mental health leaves.
