Someone with a dream of owning their own roller skating rink is just $300,000 away from making that dream come true.
First listed on Craigslist Jan. 26, the Rohler Rink in Brownsdale, Minnesota, is looking for new owners. The Craigslist description reads:
"Fully operational business, great part time business as is. Has the potential to be a full time gig with creative ideas. Price includes all skates, blades, music set and 20 plus arcade games, pool table and air hockey tables. Turn key business here with unlimited earnings! Fully functional website included, yearly subscription. A full vendor supply list and proof of income available after you're pre approved with bank."
The rink's website says it was built in 1960, but the rink was resurfaced in 2008.
Grease lightning, baby
So what kind of vibe does the rink roll with?
"Just imagine kids like from the movie Grease skating to the sounds of The Beatles or The Beach Boys and you’ll get the right idea," the website says.
The rink's co-owner, Brett Rohl, says people love the old-school feel.
"We've only had one or two people say we should remodel," he told the Rochester Post Bulletin. "A lot of people coming in said to keep it the same. They like that it's 'faded' or 'old looking.' I think it's neat."
When the rink does sell, Rohl told the Post Bulletin that he hopes the new owner(s) will keep the rink operational rather than turning it into something else, like a "carpet store," he said.
It's a small town of just under 700 people in southern Minnesota, sort of at the corner if I-35 and I-90, or about a dozen miles east-northeast of Austin, Minnesota.
