Minnesota State University campus on alert after stabbing


A stabbing at Minnesota State University - Mankato caused tense moments on Friday afternoon.

The stabbing is believed to involved one suspect and one victim and was reported to have occurred on the 2nd floor of G wing in McElroy Hall, according to a report from the .

The Mankato Free Press reports that MSU officials confirmed the stabbing involved a non-student receiving a non-life threatening laceration to his hand in the G wing. The school has lifted the alert to students, but MSU officials did not say if a suspect was in custody.

Further details are pending a report from the Mankato Police Department. Names of the victims, suspect, and others involved are unknown at this time.

Witnesses at the scene told the newspaper the victim was the boyfriend of a female student living in the dorm.

WCCO reports that the university sent text messages to students around 3:30 p.m. Friday saying there has been a stabbing reported on school grounds.
