A 16-year-old Winona Senior High School student was arrested in connection with a homicide in Illinois, the Winona Daily News reports.

He was arrested around 9 a.m., after Maywood, Illinois police contacted Winona authorities, thinking the suspect may be in the area, the WKBT reports.

According to WXOW, a detective says the homicide occurred by drive-by shooting. The death has no connection to Winona Senior High, or the city of Winona, a release from the police department says.

He'll reportedly be transported back to Maywood.

Maywood is about 12 miles directly west of Chicago.
