An 18-year-old girl died after being found unresponsive hours after she attended her high school prom.

Maplewood police say Anna Jaskulka – a senior at North High School – became unresponsive Saturday night after her parents picked her up from the prom, KSTP reports.

Her parents had seen her 15 minutes before they found her unresponsive, the Star Tribune says, and when police arrived just after 11 p.m., Jaskulka was in full cardiac arrest, the Pioneer Press reports.

She was taken to the hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

Christine Osorio, the superintendent of North St. Paul-Maplewood-Oakdale schools, said in a statement to BringMeTheNews that "investigators are working to determine if alcohol or other substances contributed to her death."

North High School Principal Greg Nelson described Jaskulka as having a "bright personality and kind heart," the statement said.

Counselors will be available for students and staff.

Those who knew Jaskulka have been sharing their condolences and memories on social media.
