Minnesota United falls to the Timbers in MLS debut

Minnesota fell 5-1 to the Portland Timbers.

The Minnesota United FC made their MLS debut on Friday night in Portland, Oregon falling to the Timbers 5-1.

Lawrence Olum scored the first goal for the Timbers at 14-minute mark and Portland led 1-0 heading into halftime.

In the opening minutes of the second half, Diego Valeri made it a 2-0 lead for Portland.

As time was winding down in regulation, Christian Ramirez scored the first goal in MNUFC history; cutting the deficit to one with ten minutes left to play.

However the Timbers added three more goals by the end of regulation, securing the win.

Up net for Minnesota is the Atlanta United on March 12 in Atlanta, Georgia.
