Minnesota United's MLS debut set for Mar. 3, home opener Mar. 12

There's a decent chance of a snowstorm during the Minnesota United's MLS home opener in March.

The Minnesota United's Major League Soccer debut will be March 3 on the road against the Portland Timbers, the team announced Wednesday.

The first home game, played at TCF Bank Stadium, is set for March 12 against fellow expansion team, the Atlanta United.

United Sporting Director Manny Lagos called Portland one of "the best places in the world to go out to play a pro soccer game."

Playing soccer outside this season could mean some snow for the United's home opener. The average high temperature on March 12 is a whopping 38 degrees, according to WeatherSpark.com.

The rest of the 34-game regular season schedule, along with TV information, will be made available in January.
