It's official, Justin Timberlake will be the main event of the Super Bowl Halftime Show in Minneapolis on Feb. 4, 2018. The announcement was made in a brief recorded skit with Jimmy Fallon.

There were rumors of Timberlake finalizing a deal to perform in late September, but all stayed quiet until now.

This will be Timberlake's third time performing during the Super Bowl. He was also part of halftime shows at Super Bowl 35 and Super Bowl 38, which is where he infamously ripped off part of Janet Jackson's costume, revealing a body part that led to the performance's nickname, "nipplegate."

"That won't happen this time," a laughing Timberlake told Mike Tirico during the Sunday Night Football halftime interview.

Timberlake joked that he wants to get everyone to shake their booty, including NBC announcer Al Michaels.

According to the NFL, the Super Bowl halftime show is the most-watched musical event of the year, with last year's show reaching more than 150 million people.

This year's Super Bowl will be broadcast on NBC.
