A 51-year-old Austin, Minnesota, angler has been found unharmed after his 16-foot boat washed ashore Thursday with no one aboard about 50 miles north of St. Paul.

The family of the man found him, the Chisago County Sheriff's Office said Friday, but offered few details about where the man had been.

The Sheriff's Office got a call at around noon Thursday about the abandoned boat that had floated to shore near a residence on Belle Isle Drive in Nessel Township on East Rush Lake, on the north end of the lake, the Associated Press reports. He was reported missing about two hours later, the Rochester Post Bulletin reports.

The angler had last been seen fishing alone on the lake shortly after midnight, KSTP reports.

The man was found at about 8:15 p.m. Thursday, and he had been sleeping, the Sheriff's Office notes on its Facebook page. But no further explanation is given.
