Missing Florida girls thought to be headed to Minnesota found safe

Authorities say two young girls thought to be headed to Minnesota after their father took them from their court-ordered guardian have been found safe, KARE 11 reports.

The Citrus County, Fla., Sheriff's Office say authorities in Sweetwater, Mont., arrested Edward Peters about 5 a.m., and that the girls -- Madison Peters, 11, and McKala Peters, 6 -- were doing well.

The girls were last seen Sept. 8 in Iverness, Fla. Authorities said the girls were likely with Edward Peters and headed to Minnesota.

ABC Action News says Peters was on pre-trial release and removed a GPS ankle monitor issued to him last month.

The Billings Gazette reports that a gas theft in Montana Wednesday was likely connected to Edward Peters.

Authorities said a Laurel, Mont., gas station reported gas was stolen by a suspect matching Peters' description.
