Search teams have found the body of a man from northern Minnesota who went missing while on a hunting trip in Colorado.

The Duluth News Tribune reports that the body of Richard "Rick" Harkins was found in the Routt National Forest, northwest of Steamboat Springs, on Friday.

The 43-year-old, who split his time between Duluth and Lake Vermillion, had been missing since Monday, with Routt County Undersheriff Ray Birch telling the News Tribune: "It's a sad ending. We spent four days in total search-and-rescue mode before going into recovery mode today."

Steamboat Today reports that Harkins, described as an "avid outdoorsman" was found a few hundred yards from his camp.

It is suspected that a medical condition may have led to his death, the newspaper notes, with Harkins having said he was not feeling well on Sunday night, with symptoms of possible altitude sickness.

It was initially reported that Harkins had separated from the four other people he was bow hunting with on Meaden Peak and Sand Mountain, but it has since been reported that he may have stayed behind while the others went hunting because he was feeling unwell.
