Miguel Sano won't play Tuesday night against the White Sox.

Miguel Sano's appeal to avoid a one-game suspension handed down by MLB officials was turned down Tuesday, according to Twins Senior Director of Communications, Dustin Morse.

Sano will serve his suspension immediately, meaning he's out of the lineup as Minnesota starts a six-game road trip Tuesday night against the Chicago White Sox.

Sano was originally suspended one game after shoving Tigers catcher James McCann in the mask on April 22. Things between Sano and Detroit got heated after Matthew Boyd threw a pitch behind Sano, who shoved McCann when he tried to intervene.

Boyd threw behind Sano after Twins pitcher Justin Haley hit Detroit's JaCoby Jones with a pitch in the face. Jones needed nine stitches and was placed on the 10-day disabled list, according to the Detroit Free Press.
