A MN hockey coach deleted an email setting up visit from Mark Zuckerberg

Mark Zuckerberg's visits are really, really secretive – as one Minnesota coach will tell you.

You might have noticed that Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg has been touring the U.S. in recent months.

He says he's traveling to gain deeper understanding of ordinary Americans, in a tour that's most definitely not a precursor to a future run for president (several media outlets have speculated that it is).

But here's the thing, his tour is so secretive that few people know where he's going to turn up. Those who do are told not to say anything about it, while some don't even believe he's visiting in the first place.

The latter was true of Minnetonka hockey coach Adam Kragthorpe, who spoke to the Wall Street Journal about the clandestine nature of the Facebook founder's U.S. tour. He said when he first received an email from Zuckerberg's people – he deleted it.

James Eby, who works for the Chan-Zuckerberg Initiative (Zuckerberg's philanthropic investment organization), sent an email to Kragthorpe requesting a meeting for a "Fortune 500 CEO who is traveling the United States and visiting a wide range of communities."

"We thought it was a multilevel marketing scheme," Kragthorpe told the newspaper.

Eby turned up at Kragthorpe's rink unannounced two days later and organized Zuckerberg's visit, during which he spent time with some hockey families before having dinner with some Somali refugees in Minneapolis.
