MOA enforces extra measures a year after out-of-control fight

The Mall of America's 150 security guards worked extra shifts on Wednesday to deter and prevent a repeat of last year's day-after Christmas chair-throwing melee involving roughly 50 teenagers and young adults, the Star Tribune reports.

Extra Bloomington police officers were also posted inside and outside the iconic shopping center. MOA spokesman Dan Jasper told the newspaper that Wednesday was calm, despite a minor fight in the food court.

Last month, the Mall of America decided to expand its teen escort policy that requires minors to be accompanied by someone 21 or older.
