A movie shot in an Iron Range town has made its way to the Mall of America theaters.

"I am not a Serial Killer," as the movie is called, was filmed in Virginia, Minnesota two winters ago, according to the Pioneer Press.

The 104 minute thriller is based on the Dan Wells novel with the same name. It tells the story of "a troubled teen with homicidal tendencies."

According to the synopsis, the 16-year-old usually tries to suppress his killer impulses, but "when a real monster shows up in his town he has to let his dark side out in order to stop it."

The low budget indie film came out in the U.S. last month and has 6.1 stars out of 10 on IMDB. Its rating on Rotten Tomatoes is nearly identical – 6.4 starts out of 10.

The Times-Picayune compares the film to Netflix's "Stranger Things" series, noting this film is "a few shades darker, and considerably more bloody... But it is also weirdly embraceable."

Here's what others are saying about it:

The film was directed by Billy O'Brien and stars Max Records – who's known for his role in "Where the Wild Things Are" – as the teen.

Christopher Lloyd – famous for his role as Doc Brown in the "Back to the Future" movies – also stars in the film.
