MOA's texting service now offers shoppers parking reminders

With more than 12,500 parking spaces at the Mall of America and more than 40 million visitors each year, there's bound to be a few shoppers who need help finding their car -- about 1,500 a year, according to the mall's management. KSTP reports the MOA is expanding its text-messaging service to help remind guests where their car is parked.

The Business Journal notes the system was developed by Kipsu -- a startup founded by a University of Minnesota student.

The Mall of America is expecting more than 200,000 Black Friday shoppers, with more than 180 stores opening at midnight.

The MOA will also ban unaccompanied minors from the mall all day Friday and Saturday, Nov. 23-24, as well as the entire week between Christmas and New Year’s. This follows a chair-throwing melee involving teenagers at the Bloomington mall last year.
