Mom, dad start cancer treatment on same day

Publish date:

Jodi and Bill Heyman of Eden Prairie are hoping for the gift of improving health this holiday season after they both began cancer treatments on the same day in August this year, WCCO reports.

Bill is now part of a rare trial at the National Institutes of Health in Washington, D.C., as he battles stage-four melanoma, and Jodi plans to undergo a bone marrow transplant next month as she fights a type of leukemia. They are parents of a sixth-grade son and a 10th-grade daughter.

“We’ve always been givers in our life, and we never wanted to get it back. But we are getting it back so much, and it’s been one of the biggest blessings for our kids because they feel supported," Jodi told WCCO.

Here's more information about the family and a fundraiser they are planning.
