Monday funeral for boy killed in random shooting attack

Author:

The funeral for the 9-year-old Oakdale boy killed in last week's shooting rampage will be held Monday. The Star Tribune reports services for Devin Aryal will begin at 11 a.m. at Guardian Angels Catholic Church, 8260 Fourth St. N., Oakdale.

The fourth grader was shot while sitting in the backseat of the family minivan. His mother Melissa, who was driving, was shot and wounded in the random attack. Another woman, Katie Knoblach, was also wounded. Knoblach was in a different vehicle with her three grandchildren. She lost part of a finger as a result of the gunfire.

Nhan L. Tran, 34, who lived with his parents near the site of the shootings, was charged with six felonies, including two counts of attempted second-degree murder, in connection with the attack. He remains in the Washington County Jail with bail set at $2 million.
