Moorhead officer DWI 'Enforcer All-Star'

Moorhead police officer Chad Anderson is one of Minnesota's "DWI Enforcer All-Stars" after he made 63 arrests in 2012, Forum Communications reports.

Forum notes that Minnesota had 104 deaths from drunken driving crashes, which was 26 percent of all crashes in the state in 2012.

Law enforcement officials made 28,418 arrests for drunken driving in 2012, Forum reports. One out of every seven licensed drivers in Minnesota has at least one DWI, according to state statistics.

Anderson tells Forum that DWI situations are unpredictable, at times gross, and in other instances frightening. Anderson was involved in one case in which a man fled on foot onto a frozen river, prompting a rescue. Anderson notes that DWI situations are the most likely to end with someone resisting arrest.

“It’s an extremely stressful situation,” Anderson said.
