More cars may have hit man killed near Cannon Falls, police appeal for help

State troopers say a pedestrian killed while crossing a highway near Cannon Falls may have been struck by more than two cars, and they're appealing for information from the public.

Patrick Daly, 42, of Stewartville, was killed after he was struck on southbound Highway 52, just north of County road 24, at around 6 p.m on Sunday.

Minnesota State Patrol revealed he was hit by a Ford Fusion and a Dodge Neon. Both drivers have been identified and were uninjured.

But Lt. Tiffani Nielson told BringMeTheNews that it is possible Daly was hit by more than two cars, while several others are believed to have taken evasive maneuvers to avoid him on the road.

Officials want to hear from any of these drivers, and from anyone else who witnessed the incident, as they try and piece together how the collision unfolded.

"The initial investigation shows several cars may have been in the area at the time of the crash," the state patrol said in a news release. "Investigators would like to speak with anyone who might have any information, no matter how minor it may seem."

Officials aren’t sure why Daly was crossing the highway where there wasn’t a designated pedestrian area, according to KARE 11. It is also unknown whether alcohol was in his system.

Anyone with information should call Minnesota State Patrol Rochester on 507-285-7406.
