On this Super Bowl of shopping days, here's more good news for metro-area holiday shop-aholics: A giant new outlet mall is coming soon.
Preliminary plans for the south metro's first major outlet mall were approved by Eagan city officials on Friday, the Pioneer Press reports.
That gave a green light to Baltimore-based Paragon Outlet Partners for a 441,000-square-foot open-air outlet center with 100 brand-name stores near Cedar Avenue and Minnesota 13, the newspaper says. It could open in just two years, the Pioneer Press reports. It would be the closest major outlet mall to the Twin Cities, and the only one within the seven-county metro area, the Pioneer Press notes.
Paragon has said similar ventures have created about 1,500 to 2,000 retail jobs.
Here's more info on the project from the city of Eagan.
Here are the design mock-ups on what it might look like.
