The metro saw about a half inch of snow move through the metro during Friday evening's rush hour, but heavier snow is expected to fall across the state Saturday night into Sunday.
The National Weather Service issued a Winter Storm Warning in effect across central Minnesota, including much of the Twin Cities metro, and northwest Wisconsin. NWS says the storm could produce six inches or more in the affected area.
In the Twin Cities, local meteorologists are expecting around a half a foot of snow to begin falling after dark. As of Saturday morning, here are the local snow predictions:
WCCO: 3-6 inches
KSTP: 5-8 inches
KARE 11: 4-6 inches
FOX 9: Potential of 6"
Star Tribune: 2-4 inches
Wind gusts up to 40 mph could create blowing snow Sunday.
The storm in central Minnesota will reach the northern part of the state by Sunday morning. The Duluth area could also see about 6 to 8 inches by Sunday evening.
