Morning commute: Icy roads, slick spots causing spinouts, crashes

A combination of dropping temperatures and a mix of freezing rain and light snow overnight has made for icy conditions on roadways throughout Minnesota Monday morning, the National Weather Service says.

The Star Tribune says roads in the west metro and western Minnesota are the slickest, and as temperatures continue to drop roads will get icier.

Most of the roads in the Twin Cities are listed as partially covered with ice on MnDOT's website. The same goes with the majority of the roads in southwestern and northern Minnesota.

There have been reports of numerous crashes, spinouts, and vehicles in the ditch in the metro area. Here's a look at the latest traffic conditions from the Minnesota Department of Transportation:
