Morning crash near Orono kills 2

Two people were killed in a Highway 12 crash Friday morning in the far west metro, according to media reports.

Orono police say the two-vehicle head-on crash happened at about 7 a.m. near the intersection of Highway 12 and Highway 6.

The driver of one car was dead when emergency crews arrived, and the other driver died shortly thereafter, KARE 11 reports. Their names have not yet been released.

WCCO reports only two people were involved in the crash.

FOX 9 has images from the scene.

The crash closed Highway 12 for several hours from Highway 6 to Highway 83, but it has since been reopened.

The cause of the crash has not yet been reported.
