A 54-year-old mother and her 26-year-old son have been arrested in Beloit, Wis., the mom held in connection with felony thefts in North Dakota and the son in connection with an attempted murder in Moorhead, Minn., the La Crosse Tribune reports.

The two were taken into custody after a raid, Beloit police said. Police served search warrants at two residences Saturday at about 4 a.m., and they detained eight people and arrested the two suspects, the Associated Press reported.

The son initially refused to surrender and after failing to arrange a quiet arrest with him, officers deployed "chemical munitions," NBC 15 in Madison reported. He then surrendered. No one was injured during the incident, the station reported.

The two face possible extradition.
