A passenger who had fallen off a motorcycle north of Sauk Centre and was then struck by a driver in hit-and-run has died, Forum Communications reports.

The incident in central Minnesota was late Saturday night. Troopers said the motorcycle was going north on U.S. Highway 71 when the man fell off and was hit by the driver of a Buick Regal, who did not stop. That driver had been headed in the same direction, the Star Tribune reported.

The Minnesota Highway Patrol is seeking the public's help. Investigators say the Buick likely has damage to its front bumper.

The man who was killed has not yet been identified, the Associated Press reported.

Last month, state highway safety officials said the state was on a road to have more motorcycle fatalities than last year.
