A 55-year-old Eveleth man died Sunday in a motorcycle-truck collision on U.S. Highway 53 near Eveleth.

The Duluth News Tribune reports the man was operating a 2010 Harley-Davidson motorcycle northbound on Highway 53 at Bodas Road just before 3 p.m. when it struck an eastbound 2000 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck that was crossing the highway.

Troopers said the motorcycle hit the front of the truck, according to WDIO.

The man, whose name has not been released, was not wearing a helmet, according to the newspaper.

The driver of the truck, Jesse Hiti, 20, of Eveleth, was not injured.

The accident is another in several fatalities on Minnesota roads this weekend.

It also comes in a year where motorcycle deaths are up across the state.
