Mourners brave cold to remember Lakeville teenager
The city of Lakeville shut down Dodd Boulevard Saturday morning to honor 16-year-old Alyssa Ettl, who died in a car crash on a slushy spot there Wednesday.
According to SunThisWeek.com, six busloads of students left Lakeville North High School to brave the bitter cold along the highway. Ettl had been a junior there.
Family and friends also parked nearby to join hundreds for the memorial.
After the family placed a wreath at the crash site, Ettl's father Matt thanked students for attending.
Rev. Jonathan Kelly of All Saints Church and Rev. Dean Swenson of Hosanna Church led a prayer, while students quietly filed past the memorial before boarding buses to return to the school.
A viewing will be held at All Saints Catholic Church from 5-8 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 9. Ettl’s funeral is at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 10 at the church.
