Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport is the best airport of its size in North America.
That's according to the Airports Council International, which uses passenger surveys to rank airports by region and size, a news release says. MSP got the highest score for airports in North America that served 25 to 40 million passengers in 2016. You can see the full rankings online here.
ACI surveys travelers at the airport on their day of travel (it's the only global survey to do this), asking them questions in categories that range from access to check-in, security screening, restrooms, stores and restaurants. The results of this survey allows an airport compare itself to its peers, and compare how it did previous years.
“Our vision is ‘providing your best airport experience,’ and that is something we can only achieve with the support of the entire Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport community. It is very gratifying to know our customers recognize the tremendous efforts made each day by so many, and our focus to provide a personal touch in order to exceed travelers’ expectations," Brian Ryks, executive director and CEO of the Metropolitan Airports Commission, said in the release.
This isn't MSP first award. Earlier this year, it was ranked one of the most punctual airports in the world. And last fall, MSP was honored for having the best public restroom. The airport has also won awards for its food and retail and environmental stewardship, among others, the release says.
MSP is currently undergoing upgrades to its restrooms, dining areas and baggage claim and ticketing levels. For the latest on these projects, click here.
