A longtime Minneapolis eating establishment's doors are open again after a five-week renovation. Murray's Restaurant & Cocktail Lounge in downtown was closed in order to complete interior remodeling. The 66-year-old restaurant, which was last remodeled in 1984, includes a new bar and lounge area that is "designed as a more casual, energetic zone."

Construction is underway in downtown Minneapolis to convert the old Shinders building into a new eatery that features a year-round rooftop restaurant, the Business Journal reports. The owner of Crave restaurants says the four-season rooftop dining area will have the option of being enclosed by Minnesota's largest all-glass retractable roof.

Another Senser's restaurant closes

A sign on the door of the restaurant chain's Plymouth location says it closed for financial reasons, the Star Tribune reports. Senser's in Eagan closed in November, also apparently because of financial hardships.

Old Country Buffet files for bankruptcy before closing restaurants

The Eagan-based company filed for Chapter 11 and plans to close 81 of its 494 restaurants. The Business Journal reports this is the second time in four years the Old Country Buffet has filed for reorganization. In 2008, the Minnesota company laid off 2,300 employees and closed 51 restaurants. A spokesman says the company will announce which locations are closing within the next week.

Theater renovation revealed: Uptown goes upscale

The 83-year-old Uptown Theatre in Minneapolis is about to unveil its $2 million renovation that restored some of the venue's old charm and adds modern features, including more luxurious seating, gourmet concessions and a larger screen.
