Kanye West debuted his new Yeezy Season 5 line Wednesday during New York Fashion Week.
And out on the catwalk, showing off the megastar's new designs, was Halima Aden – the Minnesota teen who became the first woman to compete in the Miss Minnesota USA pageant wearing a hijab and burkini.
Aden is a 19-year-old, born in a Kenyan refugee camp before coming to Minnesota when she was 6 years old, the Huffington Post reported. She went to Apollo High School in St. Cloud.
She made her catwalk debut for the Yeezy line, with Anna Wintour, Kim Kardashian, Hailey Baldwin and La La Anthony in the front row, Time says. Here's a short clip:
She spoke with Vogue after the show, saying everyone in the fashion community has been welcoming.
Business of Fashion spoke to both her and IMG Models President Ivan Bart about it, with Bart saying: "I found that she was just so brave to stick to what she really believed in and yet go after the American dream of being in a beauty contest."
And hey, Kim Kardashian gave her a shoutout on Snapchat. So that's fun too.
