First: Yes, dog dock-jumping competitions are a thing.

And it turns out – this should come as no surprise in the Land of 10,000 Lakes – that one of the sport's finest is a Minnesota mutt.

The Star Tribune has the story of Remi, a rescued lab-shepherd mix owned by Tom Dropik of New Prague.

Last fall, at the World Championships in Canton, Ohio, the 85-pound pooch won the "speed retrieve" event, in which dogs race down 20-feet of dock, then leap into a pool of water and swim to a training dummy. Remi repeated as World Champion again last month at a competition
